video playback when using VLC in Terminal via -I curses

Postby jeanloup » 20 Jan 2014 13:23

Hello everybody, this is my first post.
I am a basic vlc user and am having a really hard time finding any information regarding my problem.
I recently discovered launching VLC in the Terminal (I'm on mac osx, although i understand this is the same for linux users) using -I curses, which launches VLC in the Terminal. I find this to be really great ! However, while I have no problems playing audio files, or the audio of a video file, I cannot get the video to work and cannot find how to do this. Is there a way to get video playback when using VLC with the -I curses terminal command ? This would be really really great. Best regards and thank you in advance for any help !!

for information, i have created an alias for VLC in my bashrc file as so :
alias vlc='/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC'

so i open a new Terminal window, and tap : vlc -I curses, and VLC launches in the Terminal window

many thanks,
jeanloup

Don't use MacOS. This works on Linux, BSD, and probably Windows though.
