Have a "small" problem, Have created a multimedia-solution around Win8 mini-PC, VLC, Chrome and some other stuff. Last year, I got the idea to get a new record player (Rega RP1 + a lose RIAA preamp with USB). But since there was some issues with the record input of my ol' B&O Lab500, all my other sources feeding it via a Musicstreamer DAC, why not do the same with the vinyl. The quality loss doing so is lost with me, being a former miner. Solution would be convenient, I have my different feeds as different VLC icons, with appropriate command line settings, so one more .......
However, the USB RIAA feed do not play with VLC, but with Audacity (you can record, but that wasn't my intention, changing vinyl was a part of it
). In VLC high energy part of the music is clipping as if a far to high input "volyme" in the USB Stream. I have put the that USB "line" volume down to 0 in Windows, not even affecting VLC. I see in VLC, the input is labled as a PCM feed, but when searching on that in the config pages, no hit on it. Disabling the RIAA gives a weak thin feed, as it should. Oh, I also have exchanged the preamp, so it's OK.
There was one in an older VLC version I used before november, 2.0.x ? When defining the input stream (dshow://), where I could take the input volume down to 0.2 % volume and almost could listen. Unfortunately most of the controls was grayed out, so I think I lacked some options that could helped. But, as said, I cannot find it in the 2.1.1 version.
Question is, is there any input filter in 2.1.x I use to get rid of the clipping or am I trying to do something impossible?
