Telnet control interface not working in 2.1.2

I have been using the telnet interface for years. I just upgraded from 2.0.8 to 2.1.2 and it doesn't. I try to connect on my telnet client and it never comes back or times out.

just using all the defaults and launching with

vlc.exe filename --one-instance --extraintf telnet
tried launching with

vlc.exe filename -I telnet and vlc freezes up in memory and I have to kill the task.

Did something change in the config for the latest version?

Can someone look into this.

Has a bug been entered for this?

-I oldtelnet does not work.

I am using revision 2.1.3-0-ge6a71cc
