How to keep zoom when cropping from top/bottom

Hi,

I'm using VLC 2.1.0. After resetting all preferences i have encountered some different behaviour of the interface in window mode when i use the video crop function.

I have the video integrated in the interface (embedded video on), resizing interface to native video size on and video always fit window on.

When i crop a video from left or right, the window is made smaller in width (respecting minimum width). In opposite when i crop from top or bottom, the window is made wider, keeping the height of the window and changing the zoom level of the video. This leads to a very big window, exceeding the width of my screen, when i crop a video with a size of 720x576 (amorph) and aspect ratio 16:9 to an aspect ratio i. e. of 2.35:1. Then i have to reset the zoom, which lowers finally the height of the window.

Is the a possibility to keep the zoom level when croping and lowering the height of the interface directly?

Widening of picture when cropping top/bottom in window mode, then reset of the zoom makes the width normal again.
I do not like this behaviour, too. Plese file a bug report: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc

I have found a ticket which discribes the problem: #7823 -> there has been no action for months.

Maybe it can be changed from a defect into a feature request: add an option to keep zoom level when crop.

btw: same behaviour occurs when cropping pixel by pixel (either via advanced settings -> video effects -> crop or via hotkeys)

It is possbile to disable Video > Always Fit Window, hotkey "o", to see black bars in a picture when cropping.
