Video Affects/Geometry/Transform TROUBLE?

Hello, I've been a happy :>) VLC user for over 2 years now (and just registered today) and video is often shot vertically (tall) to capture the screen but when downloaded it shows horizontally but that wasn't a problem with VLC because a user could go to Video Affects, then Geometry, then Transform and could then choose either 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees and the video would then appear vertically as it was originally shot and the subject matter was fully complete and not distorted at all. For a number of months now when I try the same procedure the subject matter when Transformed to it's original vertical position is totally distorted and bent out of shape and I'm hoping that someone can help me fix this problem (note: when I use Rotate instead of Transform I can get the video vertically without any distortion but the top and bottom of the video is missing)? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling VLC thinking it would reset any and all default settings but unfortunately that didn't work. I then tried playing around with various settings inside VLC and that didn't work either? I would be forever grateful if some nice VLC user could help me with this problem, Thanks :>) P.S. I did check previous forum topics and did many internet searches too but I couldn't find any info on the problem I'm having?
