Video picture distorted and no sound

Hi,

When I try to play a file with VLC the file runs (full length), but there is no sound and the picture is just various changing color patterns. It was suggested to me that this file was encoded with a very recent DivX codec which is the source for the problem.

I'm using VLC 2.0.7 for Win7 x64, all options are installation default.
Here is a level 2 debugger log of the first 10 seconds (it goes on like that): http://pastebin.com/NvRQDTP4
Here is a sample: http://www.embedupload.com/?d=1SM1QYIYAR

Thanks!

The sample file crashes my VLC 2.0.8 on OS X.

However Videospec identifies it as A Windows Media Format using the Windows Media Video 9 Codec. It also indicates it's encrypted which would explain it not looking correct when played back. You need to use Windows Media Player.

Hmmm thanks. Didn't realize you can create a file that will work only on WMP, and I have no idea why it would be encrypted.

Thanks and sorry for the crash.

VC-1 and WMA in AVI is a very bad idea anyway. Use ASF/WMV container.
