HOW DO I?: window resize and title display...

how do i keep the window from resizing to the current video everytime i play a different video or when i have a video playlist. is there any way to do this? i tried disabling/enabling "resize interface to the native video size", but that didn't work. also, is there any way to display the current video title/file name along with the elapsed time? i got the time extension from addons.videolan.org, but this doesn't display the title/file name, only time. can any of you please help me out? thank you! :)

Menu Tools -> Preferences (Show Settings = ALL) -> Video
Then on the right panel scroll down to the Window Properties section.

this works but only when you open it the first time, then after it is opened and you try to open a different video the window re-sizes once again. any idea on how to do it permanently? also, any word on how to do the title/file name along with the elapsed time? thank you for your help. :)

1.) Tools > Preferences > ( Show settings = All ) > Interface \ Main Interfaces \ Qt: [ ] Resize interface to the native video size
Save settings and restart VLC. This works for me. The size of VLC window remains the same.
2.) Use Marquee subpictures filter.
Tools > Preferences > ( Show settings = All ) > Video \ Subtitles/OSD \ Marquee
Tools > Effects and Filters > Video Effects > Overlay: [v] Add text
> Text [$t$_$T]
Or edit the Time extension script and add a new tag for title or for anything you want.

thank you very much, mederi. the second option worked like a charm. however, the first option is still not working for me. i have "resize interface to the native video size" unchecked and even went under window properties to set a fixed size for the window. it works when i open the first video, but when i open another video it totally bypasses the fixed size and resizes the video to its native video size. i don't know if this is a glitch with VLC or if i'm doing something wrong.

good news! i was able to fix the "resize interface to the native video size". the problem was that i didn't have the controls embedded into the video. unfortunately, i can't keep this option unless the controls are embedded. would be nice if i could undock the controls and keep the "resize interface to the native video size".

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION THOUGH!!

how can i fit the actual video to the window size filling up the whole window. some videos have different ratios/sizes. i'm not talking about the window itself. i'm talking about the video image. how can i fit-to-screen so it fills up the whole screen even if i resized the window manually. i don't want those black borders. thanks guys!
