How can i keep track of how many times i've played a video. I don't want last played so much as i want times played so i know which videos i'd be better off deleting

AFAIK play count is being held either within a tag or an external datase but VLC can't manage any of those.

I think that some simple VLC Lua Extension is possible:
start to play => remember new filename in a database file or increase counter for existing entry (something like
Remember position) => print the list sorted by number of playbacks in a dialog box => delete selected entries in database or clear database file
What else?

Uhm, where to start with LUA? That part of the forum has a lot on it and I'd like to try to make this, find a plug-in, or make a plug-in some other way. Maybe one that stores info where VLC stores info about 'Media Library'.
How would one add a column to sort by play count? How to add the ability to search for it? I use VLC to listen to music and those features would be really handy for me when assembling custom playlists / personal mixtapes (well, minidiscs - I'm old school, but not that old school.
