Cannot delete recently played list

It's supposed to be easy to delete the recently played list: Open Media, then select Recent Media and Clear. The Open Recent Media tab was visible but not active - ie., I could not open it. I uninstalled the programme, being careful to tick Delete preferences and cache, used RegSeeker to try to delete anything left in the registry then reinstalled it, being careful to tick Delete preferences and cache again. I cannot delete the recently played list. Help.
