livestream recording problems

I am new user and attempted to record a livestream today but was unable to accomplish the recording. I was attempting to record a livestream that was playing in flash player. The copied the URL in the open network stream window but kept getting a message stating unable to open the stream. It referred me to a log for more info but I was unable to locate the log. Is the url listed in chrome browser not the address I should have used? Appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks.
