1080i Blu-ray playback

No matter what settings I try Blu-ray playback of 1080i discs is blurred/jerky. I'm assuming this is because the picture is interlaced and it's akin to getting half the frame rate? All other files, 1080p Blu-rays, DVDs, and the like play perfectly.
This is disappointing as I have quite a few UK television Blu-rays, particularly natural history, that are 1080i. Is there a solution?
Many Thanks,
Nick

Did you activate deinterlacing in video menu?

Thank you for your reply.
I think I've tried every deinterlacing option but it's possible I've missed one. On 1080i blu-rays any pan shots are very jerky and movement looks as if it is in slow motion, similar effect to low frame rate. All other DVDs and 1080p blu-rays play perfectly.

h.264?

Sorry for not responding, I've been on holiday. Have now downloaded an h.264 file and this plays perfectly, although the file was labelled 1080p.
The problem only seems to affect 1080i Blu-ray disc. Unfortunately I have quite a few BBC Natural History 1080i discs.
Any other suggestions?

What are the codecs in those discs?

How do I find the codecs used?

Ctrl+I when trying to play it back in VLC.

Stream 0 - Video Codec: Windows Media Video VC1 (VC-1), 1920 x 1080, Frame rate 25
Stream 1 - Audio Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52)
Stream 2 - as Stream 0
Stream 3 - as Stream 1
Stream 4 - as Streams 0 & 2
etc.

Yep, VC-1 interlaced is not supported in VLC.
On Windows, you could try activating DMO.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try your suggestion. Are there any plans to offer VC-1 interlaced in future?

Yep. 2.0.6 might help on this.
