Non smooth playback watching .MKV files

Hi Everyone,

I hope this is in the correct area of the forum. I'm having problems with VLC player when watching .MKV files, it usually happens about half way through playback and the video begins to stutter a little bit as if its not playing all the frames. It is solved by closing VLC and reopening it at the point previously left off from, but quite often another 20ish minutes of playback will have the problem reoccurring.

Computer specs are:

Windows 7 64 bit
4.2ghz 6 core FX6200
16gb Ram

These are generally big MKV files of between 6 and 10gb using the A52 over S/PDIF for audio.

Ive done loads of searching to try solve this issue but can find anything similar.

Any help would be appreciated

Can you post the verbose logs of when these stutterings appear?

Tools->messages set verbosity to 2
