Washed out video - NVIDIA Control panel fix doesn't work.

I've been reading around, and apparently there is an issue with the nvidia control panel not using the full 255 dynamic range, causing videos to look washed out. However, I don't believe this is my issue, and there are a couple of reasons for that.

I have a raw fraps video, and an h.264 encoded copy.
When playing them in VLC, the fraps video is fine, but the h.264 video is incredibly washed out.
When playing them in Quicktime, the h.264 video is EVEN MORE washed out. I cannot play the fraps video.
After being uploaded to YouTube, the h.264 video is washed out when playing on my PC, however is completely fine on my iPad. This tells me that there isn't an issue with my files, and it is purely playback.

However, when playing in MPC, both videos display correctly.

Because of this, I know it's not a problem with the encode, or nvidia's settings. I've tried all manner of nvidia settings, from let the player decide, to manual with the correct dynamic radio settings, heck even changing the hue drastically, but I got no effect from changing any of those settings on any player I tried, even after a reboot.

I'm completely out of ideas.

I'm asking here since I use VLC as a primary media player, and this issue is really starting to annoy me.

Thanks!
