Low or No Speech in all movies

I had a problem with some video H264.mp4 movies displaying a blocked/Scrambled vertical section on the far right hand side of the movie. Using another player and shrinking it to half size showed that the file was intact. In trying to resolve this issue i have created a more serious problem. I now have no or very little speech audio in all my files that i try to play. Were OK on my PC and Fine on my tv with my HDD connected so files are ok. I am aware of the 5.1 issue and having correct speaker selection. I have 2 external speakers connected to my sound card. Did not have a problem until Klite told me to uninstall some codecs when i installed MPC - HC. Been trying for 2 days to sort this out any help would be appreciated. I can play Music fine MP3 and have some home video when my son was born and the speech is fine on that. At a loss now and considering a full wipe and reinstall. Does not seem to be hardware or file related. Must be a setting i have overlooked. The same in all media players not just VLC. Got Nero Showtime,Realplayer, Quicktime,WMP and VLC

Hi I'm having the same problem with mine but with the spdif option Fiber optic cable you can hear everything else but not the speech. it was working fine before
