Help VLC command line to convert audio
Posted: 24 Jan 2013 12:27
Hi all,
Would one of you VLC guru's be willing to help me out with a vlc command line to convert my audio files?
--- details ---
I am trying to convert one specific type of audio file that heaps of programs are having difficulty playing (MP3 compressed audio stream saved into a WAVE container) into another normal MP3 container.
I can do this in the VLC GUI (On Windows, but assume it is similar on other OS'es thus in the General forum) using:
Menu: Media->Convert Save
Add my source file
Click: Convert Save->Convert
Select my destination file: blah.mp3
Select the profile: Profile -> Audio - MP3
Click "Edit Selected Profile"
On the Audio Codec page select "Keep original audio track"
Then Start
This converts exactly as I am expecting it to. What command line could I use to do this same task from a script?
I have tried a lot of different programs and it seems that VLC is so far the only one that has been able to do what I want (Not even SoX or mencoder). I now need to do this for lots of files and so want to script it on the command line. I have read the command line vlc -H but had trouble figuring out top from tail of that and also read a few posts of people offering command lines to convert various videos but nothing the same as what I am trying to do.
Would one of you VLC gurus be willing to help me out with this command line?
Thanks,
Brendon.
