5.1 audio no voice

Postby Jwz-Swa » 13 Jan 2013 20:09

Hi,

I've got a 5.1 (6 channels) speaker system which is connected to my pc with a external SPDIF output (usb to coaxial digital output). The 5.1 audio works but i can hardly hear the voice sounds. When i switch to 'stereo' or '2 front 2 rear' it works fine but not when i select '5.1'. I've googled and tried a lot but it all didn't work. My center speakers works perfectly so that is not the problem. Maybe it has something to do with the external soundcard. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Did you check that the VLC output channels are correct in preferences?

You can find the correct settings by going into the Preferences dialog, selecting the "All" radio button, going to Audio > Output modules, and selecting the appropriate sound server (usually ALSA for *nix, DirectX for Windoze, for example) and setting it to configure for 5.1 Surround output.
Hope this helps! NOTE: Also make sure under your operating system that the Speakers configuration is set for 5.1 audio, or else even this won't help.
If we can simulate real life so accurately, then isn't our reality maybe just one great big simulation as well?
