double clicking video file does NOT start playback

I am running VLC ver 2.0.3 in Windows 7 64bit. When I double click a video file in Windows Explorer, VLC opens (if it was not already running) and the video file shows up in the Playlist, but VLC does not start playing the video - it used to do so. Is this a new "feature" in ver 2.x or did I set something incorrectly in Preferences?
Thanks

No idea. Reset the preferences?

I have the same problem with VLC 2.0.4. I reset all preferences, uninstalled and reinstalled VLC. Still not allowing video to automatically play by double clicking on a video in the finder. The video does go to the playlist, but does not start playing the video automatically. To play the video I need to click on the name of the video in the playlist window. This is the Mac version of VLC on OSX 10.8.2
