Manually adjusting cache level

Hi all,

I'm using VLC to stream 720p content off 802.11g wifi. I'm getting 16Mbits of usable transfer speed which is a tad tight for that matter.
I put VLC on higher latency setting but it is not enough, it needs a larger cache.

Is there an option to manually adjust the cache? I would like it to be 30 or 45 seconds.

If it is relevant, I am using 2.0.4 on OS X 10.6.8

Thanks,

Menu Tools -> Preferences (Show Settings = ALL) -> Input/Codecs
Then scroll down to Advanced/File Caching on the right panel.

Dear Helo, did you manage to adjust the settings and get a satisfactory result? I have the same software setup (2.0.4 on Mac 10.6.8) playing over wifi from a Simba (?) server on a WD TV device. There were 3-4 cache settings, all with a maximum of 6000 ms. Which cache settings should be used? Thanks!
