Snapshot Creating Corrupted PNG's

I've search around and haven't found anyone with the same problem. Since I've upgraded to 2.0.4 64bit, VLC has been outputting unopenable PNG's for the snapshots. JPG's work just fine, but I prefer PNG's because the JPG's seem to come with a lot of artifacts.

Does anyone know how to find the problem or what a solution might be?

Is it working fine with VLC 32 bits ?

Yes, it does. If there isn't a fix, I'll just go with the 32bit build. It seems like a weird bug though.

I'm on 32bit (Arch) and it does not work for me (-> corrupted png).
Not sure if this is important, but the corrupted file is about twice as big as a png created by the basic non-vlc-related screenshot tool.

I have the same problem. Since I updated my VLC to the latest version, the PNG snapshots are not more readable and seem corrupted.
I have uninstalled this new version and reinstalled my previous one. (VLC media player 2.0.3 Twoflower)
With this version I have no more problems with the snapshots inPNG, they are recognized by my image systems.
( I use Windows 7 as operating system)

Same problem. VLC media player 2.0.5 Twoflower, x64 Linux (Arch in specific).

PNG snapshots appear corrupted; I can't find any program that opens them. JPEG snapshots are fine.

I'm pretty sure this isn't new, though. I remember having this same issue several months ago. I don't think I've ever successfully saved a PNG snapshot from VLC. (Not that I've tried on anything but x64 Linux in several years.)

same here:

VLC media player 2.0.7 Twoflower (revision 2.0.6-54-g7dd7e4d)

running over Debian 64 (Sid)
Linux localhost 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.41-2+deb7u2 x86_64 GNU/Linux

PNG snaptshots are corrupted; file created is fill with 0x00, jpeg files instead are ok.

Are you against FFMpeg or libav?
