VLC 2.0.4 "Took Over" & Slowed Downloads

Postby Houghton Yooper » 03 Nov 2012 22:11

I downloaded the 2.0.4 update (previously 2.0.3) today & VLC plays existing videos fine, but when I try to download a 40-minute segment from the Coast-To-Coast-AM radio site like I usually do, it takes over an hour now, at about 15 to 20 kb/second. Windows Media Player only takes about 30 seconds. And now, worst of all, even though I select Windows Media Player from the list for the download, it automatically uses VLC now at this painfully slow rate. I uninstalled 2.0.4 & tried to put 2.0.3 back in but the VLC site would only allow 2.0.4. I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3. Am I on the right post? I'm not real smart with computer terminology. I'm very unhappy and wish I had ignored the 2.0.4 update. Why won't the Coast radio site let me use Windows Media player? Why is VLC downloading so slow now? I ran Ceanup.exe to get rid of cookies, temporary files, rebooted etc., but VLC still takes over and is way too slow on the download to use. I would normally prefer to use it, but can't for that purpose now. Thanks for any help!
