DVD not playing unless in "simple mode"

I just bought the new Avengers DVD & I guess the opening menu is too complex for VLC Player because they only way it works is if it's in simple mode, but then I don't have access to special features plus the screen ratio & timing for all the scenes is off. (ex: something that happened 43 minutes in is now happening at 2 hours & 22 minutes in -aka the end of the film-)
I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling VLC Player & resetting my computer but nothing seems to be working for me.

Yes. This is normal with Avengers DVD new protection scheme.

Any sort of ETA on the fix for this protection problem? I've recently run into the same problem on two separate machines. One, when I tried to play the "Avengers" DVD, VLC did a 'crash-and-burn', the other opened the DVD, but acted odd. On the second machine, in the opening material/commercials, it would play part of the section, then freeze momentarily before jumping to the next section. Then, when it started playing the actual movie, it played to a point (the same spot three times running), then it too crashed. It'd be very nice indeed if VLC could cope with the new protection system. Thanks.

You can use Media Player Classic to watch the DVD.
