Will VLC Play PCM with non-standard sample rates?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Will VLC Play PCM with non-standard sample rates?

Postby Illishar » 05 Sep 2012 12:23

Hello there,

I've built a small specialized streaming server (rtp/rtsp) which I would like to connect to VLC. Trouble is that my source sample rate is a bit uncommon (7680 Hz). According to the RTP, RTSP and SDP standards, LPCM (L16) *is* supported with non-standard sample rates. (Although not recommended.) Do VLC support PCM with custom sample rates?

If not, do you know of another codec that might help me? It needs to be lossless and 16bit. (Very important.)

VLC, yes. Your sound card, certainly not.
