missing faac libraries - howto install them?

Postby cmosse » 04 Jul 2005 14:53

I'm trying to transcode audio from mpeg2 into mp4a on a Debian platform, and keep getting error messages about missing AAC encoder.

So, as far as I know I'm missing the faac-libraries. And running "vlc -l|grep faac" returns nothing..
But, I've reinstalled faac with apt-get several times without any progress..
What am I missing?!

Error message:
[00000371] ffmpeg encoder error: cannot find encoder MPEG AAC Audio

I am having the same problem, here's my post :

No one is able to tell me what is the problem.
I compiled the whole thing many times without success (using RH8).
My only solution is to use the precompiled Windows version of VLC :(
