VLC volume drop after pause

I have noticed that many times when I pause VLC Player the volume is noticeably lower once the video is unpaused. At first I thought that it only happened if i left VLC paused while I went to work or other times, when it was paused for extended periods of time; but recently it has begun happening even when I pause the video to go get a drink or snack and am only gone for a couple of minutes.

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same or similar problems and has found a solution. As it stands I have to either close VLC and reload my whole playlist or wait till the next episode at which point the volume returns to its previous level.

Just to clarify, VLC shows no change in the volume on the volume slider and the volume hasn't changed on my system or speakers, yet there is a noticeable change in volume (I would estimate it gets cut about in half).

Are you using the Volume Normalization filter. I'm just guessing that pausing clears the buffer and potentially sets a new volume level based on the new buffer when it resumes.

I am not using the audio normalization filter. I'm a little unclear about that though. Did you mean that doing so could solve my problem, or that it could be the cause?

The problem has been resolved. Turns out it wasn't vlc at all, but a windows 7 setting that was causing the volume drop.

You may want to mention the specific Windows 7 setting in case someone else is searching for the same issue.
