What operating system and version of VLC are you using?

I have Windows Vista 64 with an option that allows 32 bit applications to run at 32bits. I had been using VLC 1.1.5-win32 successfully for about a year or more I initally had problems installalling that so I was reluctant to update. I installed the latest version VLC 2.0.2-win32 and now it just crashes each time I try to RECORD. It seems to start the process and after a short while the application shuts down completely. No error messages. I wish now that I hadn't upgraded because I can't get any work done and I'm in the middle of a big project.

In VLC menu, Tools→Preferences (set "All" in bottom left corner)→Advanced→Logging: Set the "log filename" to a text file on your desktop, and "Verbosity" to 2. Then try to make it crash again.

Hi Edward

I followed your instructions and tried to create a file but I just could not seem to create a log. Maybe I am missing something. What filename should I give it? I used CrashDump.txt but when I opened the file it was blank

When I reopen VLC after the crash - I am asked if I want to send a log, on selectin ok there is a short pause then I get the following message. There was an error whle connecting to the FTP server.

Hello Jean-Baptiste

Ok I tried to create another error log but it does not work. I have tried five or six times and it does not create the log..

I followed the instruction Tools----Preferences---Check All - button Advanced----Logging----Verbosity---2 Created Filename--CrashDump.txt ---Directory Path --- click save... Opened Video ---- Pressed Record --- Video played for short time ---- VlC Crashed ---- Openned VLC again ---- Error Message do you want to send log --- Yes --- Error message --- problem with FTP server... Check destination driectory and VLC directories for CrashDump.txt file --- nowwhere to be found... Where did I go wrong?

You don't even give us what you are trying to record...
