VLC for recording audio

I tried before, but failed, to work out how to record from a streaming internet radio station which I am listening to via VLC. I have now downloaded version 2.0.2. Is it possible to record with this latest version (or if not, how is the best way to do this)? It is not clear from the menu system, but then I am not an expert in this technology. Thanks.

When the station is playing in VLC...
Click 'View' > 'Advanced Controls'
Then use 'Record' button.

Thanks for the tip. The procedure does seem to be rather "haphazard". It is difficult to know if recording is taking place or not, and clicking on the red button has twice had the effect of terminating the broadcast. I then didn't know if I had been listening to the recording or the real time broadcast. Is the exact procedure, method, steps etc not covered somewhere in the Help file? I looked but could not find this info.
