EBU STL support / playback question

Hi,

while playing around with v2.02 (great job, btw!) i´ve tried to test the EBU STL subtitle playback function. For this, i´ve chosen a multiple audio MKV file (720p, 5.1 dual audio channels) and added a random EBU STL file (two different ones: FAB / N19 formatted) - but the subtitles don´t show up at all. The interesting part here is that VLC shows the correct information (Stream 3 - EBU subtitle file) when checking the codec information

Are there any specific requirements to the subtitle files / their formatting? Or will the subs only show up combined with a specific video codec / container?

Btw, i´m running VLC 2.02 on Win7 64bit, Sony Vaio Notebook (Full HD Resolution).
Looking forward reading from you.

best regards,
radioflyer

I´m currently having the same problem. The vlc player accepts the stl file and shows it in the subtitle list as "track 1" but the Subs dont show up at all.

@radioflyer
when you find a solution to this, please share it here in the board.

Thanks Jean-Baptiste, sounds promising.
I´ve created a small package with 2 STL files, both EBU, but one is FAB and the other one N19.

Radioflyers files are basicly identical, so I deleted the one I´ve uploaded.

Jean-Baptiste, did you by any chance have time to look at the samples provided?
Thanx!

No, I did not get the correct files. Can you mail them?

Hi Guys,

Here is a challenge for you, I have EBU Subtitles (N19) they are external to my video files (Mpeg 50mbs, Pal @ 25fps)
Files live on a network server with GIG-E connection.

First off VLC cant play the file without buffering every 20seconds (Media Player classic is the only way i get to play the file)
second, when i try to load the .STL files, rather than laying it over the top it tries to play it as a new video and then crashes out..

if anyone can help me with setup and playback i would be very thankful!

Cheers

Hi, what is the status of EBU STL support? All the files I create or download get played, but they get displayed in the middle of the screen (and linebreaks are not respected). Is this expected (I started a new thread but nobody is responding: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=114822 )
