VLC deinterlaces videos in incorrect field order

I've got many interlaced X264 files compressed years ago, and VLC doesn't deinterlace them in correct field order. Currently X264 has a command that allows you to specify the field order (like --tff), but I compressed the videos with old --interlaced command that does not specify the field order. I've got no problem when I view them on other players that can use ffdshow as the video decoder, but on VLC, the footage looks very awkward because of the reversed fields. Maybe I should just use the other player when I view those old videos, but I'd like to use VLC because it's much faster and easier. Is there any way to reverse or select field order on VLC? Sorry for my bad English.
