Sound is repeating itself.

Sound is repeating itself and echoing.It is like a scratched CD. For example The, the, the, man,man, man on audio files. It is doing the same on video files but not showing the video. Using VLC Media player 2.01 Twoflower. I have unistalled 2.01 and then reinstalled it. Still having the same problem.

Reset preferences: I went to tools, then preferences, then hit the reset preferences button. message came up"are you sure you want to reset......" I then went ok.
I then played a video and I am still having the same problem. T
he video and audio files sound like they are echoing and do not work?

my apologies for that. I am not very tech minded. I just know how to push play and stop.
