ftp problem?

Here is the link I want to play:

ftp://carcosa.barrucadu.co.uk/hppodcraf ... heDark.mp3

If I have the link in the clipboard and click the menu 'Media', 'Open Location from clipboard', the file plays as I would expect.

However if I click the menu 'Media', 'Open Network Stream', then select FTP for the protocol and copy the above link into the address field, then click 'Play' I get the following error:

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'ftp://carcosa.barrucadu.co.uk/hppodcraf ... heDark.mp3 '. Check the log for details.

I'm wondering why I can't play the file using the second method. I'm probably missing something obvious but if someone could set me straight I would appreciate it.

This is in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

Looks like an extra white space somewhere. Otherwise, check the logs.
