VLC Player not recording .avi files correctly, only .mp4

Postby mleXiHuanNi » 15 Apr 2012 08:04

Hi, I recently just started having this problem and it never did this before. Not sure if it was the upgrade or not (didn't download yet when it stopped working, but it was after the update).
I download 1 hour videos in .avi and make gifs with them through photoshop. I use VLC player to cut the clips so I can load them into photoshop.

The problem occurred 1 week ago. Now when I record .avi clips, they don't become what they use to be. It saves it as .ts. Basically an audio file. I don't know what happened. I can't tell if it is a problem with my laptop or vlc.

.mp4 still works normal on it though. I can record and load it onto photoshop fine. But the problem is with .avi videos!!

Sometimes when I record it, it shows part of the video but it is semi-broken. The audio sometimes isn't there. It's saved as .mp4 after. But it doesn't show the picture of the video, but instead the orange cone. And when I tried to load it on photoshop, it says video cannot be played.

http://i40.tinypic.com/et9tuq.jpg <-- Here is an example. It saves as orange cones when I record from .avi videos. When I record from .mp4, it shows the video picture and the small orange cone.

I really need some help! I'm going crazy over this. Does anyone have the same problems as me? And if you haven't tried it yet and have an .avi video with you. Try recording it and tell me if it does the same thing or not.

Thank you!
Emily

This will be fixed in 2.1.0 or in tomorrow nightly build.
