Playing .avi's on Panther

Hello,

I have some problems playing avi's on Panther. VLC opens me a window with written:

VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc ` '.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Does somebody encountered it? Is it possible to update the VLC codecs?

I have had similar troubles. A reasonable way round it was to use an earlier version of Quicktime that runs in Classic, and stuff it chock full of all the old codecs. This seems to work for many files. If the QT is QT Pro you can then export it into a different format and watch in Panther, Jaguar, or widescreen(!!!!!)
