Can´t Play ASF Streaming from Linksys WVC54G Network Camera

Postby cdiaz » 23 May 2005 21:05

I want to play the video stream from a Linksys WVC54G network camera.
But VLC can´t open the URL http://cameraname/img/video.asf

With Windows Media Player 10, the same url works perfectly.

The strange thing is :

When i record the video with the Linksys utility, i can open it without problems using VLC (and WMP obviously).

I know that the codec used by the network camera to produce the video is MP4S ( Microsoft MPEG 4), but... why i can open the file on the hard disk but i cannot play the stream??

Scenario: Windows XP SP2, VLC 0.8.2-test1, Windows Media Player 10

Linksys WVC54G Network Camera with firmware 2.11

Produce "MPEG 4" video
File Format ASF

Any Clues?

Maybe a debut...

Well, I encounter the same problem on a Macintosh Mac OsX computer...

From the Linsys chat support, Mac is out of our support, we only support PC, the same about Linux & co...

It seems it's a problem linked to the fact it's a stream and not a finished file video format. So I tried this near "solution", I open a download to the stream (http://my.internal.ip/img/video.asf) and open the temporary file (while downloading), I obtain a near real time image and a growing file...

From time to time Vlc stop reading and if I reopen the file (still downloading) Vlc read it from the begining.

Hope those observations will help to find a solution.

Can't say a thing about this without access to the device or at the very least the informtion from the messages window.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

I've posted more error messages as I've played with the settings - it still doesn't work.
