Hey
I want to do the same thing !
I'm currently searching for answers.

If you make an M3U file and put inside the addresses of the channels it should work for Web TV, but it doesn't ...!

I tried with web radio and it worked. Just go to File mode and open the m3u file, then go to yellow (playlist) and choose the address of the radio station you want to listen and voilá!. You have to prepare a valid m3u file first.

Example of m3u file:
#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:0,Angel Fire Radio's Rock&Roll.FM-WDDT
http://64.236.34.196:80/stream/1043
#EXTINF:0,idobi Radio: Music that doesn`t suck! News, interviews and the best in alternative, rock, and punk music: idobi.com
http://213.251.129.50:8080

Web TV doesn't work, I think dreambox doesn't understand mms protocol for video because with radio it is http protocol.

I tried it with videolanclient 0.2.3 too but it doesn't read m3u files and I don't know how to modify vlc.xml .

Hope it helps !
I'll be back if I know something more.

This link explains how to stream from PC to dreambox:
http://dreambox.ingmar.dk/WebStreamEng.htm

I tried it successfully !
You just have to start VLC on the PC with the server active, that is done like the following (create a shortcut with this):
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wxwin --extraintf=http

The streaming port on PC VLC has to be the same has the port defined in the communications panel on dreambox (setup->expert settings-> communications).

Through the dreambox's web, on the option "stream", browse a file (mpg or avi) and click on "file". It opens an m3u file on pc vlc that links to the file you selected and streams it to dreambox.
Don't do nothing on dreambox, wait 20 seconds and you'll see the movie ! :D

I tried to open an mms link instead of an mpg file but it didn't work.

So, it's not worth to do this because it is much simpler to mount a pc folder on dreambox and just open the movie file. (piece of cake!). I use nfsAxe v3.2 on PC to share folders because I couldn't do it with the CIFS.

Conclusion:
What I wanted to do in the first place, was to just connect the dreambox to my modem (no PC necessary) and open a link to a Web TV station. This is possible with Web Radio as I explained before with an m3u file. But dreambox doesn't open m3u links to mms:// protocol.
It is necessary some plugin on dreambox to accomplish this. Or else, a firmware that can resolve this issue.

If anyone knows how to do it, I would appreciate some help!
Greetings !

Well after trying the tutorial in this tread i did not come any further, but...i have NASA TV now Playing on my tv.

It was more simple as expected:

2)Open the VLC Wizard and Select Transcode/Save Stream.
3)Select the "NASATV.ASX" and press next.
4)Select Transcode to Video: MPEG2, 2048 and Audio: MPEG, 192 and press next.
5)Select file format MPEG TS, press next
6)Select Filename to save to "NASASTREAM.MPG"

8) Browse to the NASASTREAM.MPG and press file.
