Can hide the title bar of video window ?

The title of video window is VLC(XVideo output) with VLC-0.7.2 in Linux RedHat9.0. Can hide it? I want to hide it and cann't resize the video window.

Ummm.. I didn't want to post something already answered, but I had the same question and DJ's reply is just not enough for me to solve the problem. So I must ask again: How do I hide the title bar that appears over the video while using skins 2? I'm a newbie, by the way, so treat me gentle.

I discovered an option in the Video / General that, unticked, will hide the title bar, but won't let me move the window so as to place it somewhere else in my screen- instead of having it in the upper left corner. I was wondering whether there was another way of hiding the title bar that would also let me drag the window.

Depends on your operating system. In linux using gnome there is an option to press a key (default is alt) and click on a window to move it.

Under windows I'm not sure if this exists. You may try right clicking the window's taskbar button and click on move. No guarantees though.

It probably does exist under OSX.

If you know right from the start where you want to place the video window, you can use the --video-x and --video-y parameters (also available in the preferences).

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm using VLC 0.8.4a in WinXP, and configured it with Skins 2 (Playtree).

I tried what you suggested but it is not possible to rightclick the window's taskbar when the "Windows decorations" option is unticked. (Damn WinXP! As soon as my Ubuntu copy arrives at my boyfriend's, I'll get rid of this OS from Hell!)

The "Video x/y coordinate" in Preferences are set up in -1 by default. I tried to change this to some other number, (e.g. 0/1) but nothing happens. It's still fixed in the upper left corner.

Same thing as before: I'm a newbie, and have no idea of programming or coding whatsoever. So I need you to tell me where to change those parameters you talked about earlier. (That's the main reason why I could not understand DJ's original reply in this thread).

Try with x=100 and y=50 instead of 0 and 1

--no-video-deco it is, but it only works for the VIDEO window, not the user interface.

Where is it? What is it called? I have "Show media title on video" and "Window decorations" turned off, but when I am in Minimal View the window title is still there. How do I make it go away?

Deactivate embedded video in interface.

That locks the window to the top left corner of the screen. Is there a way to make the title bar disappear when VLC is put into Minimal View? If not, I would like to request it as a feature.

No. You can use video-x and video-y if you want to change the coordinates.
