need help with wallpaper

s it possible to play a movie in your background even when vlc is not running, i noticed that when i turned vlc off the video does not saty in the background, is it possible for the video to run all the time even if vlc is not active, if so can anyone help me out and tell me how to configure it, i have windows xp

Don't know about windows, but with Linux you type an '&' after
the command and the thing keeps running until you close it.
But... Why can't you simply leave it running? Seems like the
issue here is more getting it to play in the background rather
than getting it to play after it has been closed?

well i wanted it to play on startup, i wanted to know if there was way of playing it without vlc open
