Playlist plays files in random order

Nothing I have tried works on MP3 or FLAC audio files. I want to create a playlist that will play the files in the order of the track number assigned to the filename. VLC ver 3.0.21 on a Windows 10 Pro desktop

Make a playlist with the files in the intended order and do NOT enable shuffle.

Thanks I found the icon down by the track navigation controls at the bottom of the screen instead of the dropdown menu
