stream "now playing" info

did a search for this, but my search skills are clearly lacking.

how do I get web stream "now playing" (artist/title) info to appear on VLC desktop (win10pro)? long ago it would show up in the video window and/or the title bar at the top of the app. lately though, the "now playing" info does not appear at all. looked through all the settings and didn't find anything appropriate to solve the issue. VLC android shows the info just fine so I know the stream is sending the metadata. any ideas?

When you look at the menu Tools -> Media Information (or Ctrl+I) is there anything in the Now Playing field ?
And please post a link of a stream showing this behaviour.

I wanted to post screenshots of what I see in the VLC desktop app (Tools -> Media Information shows no title/artist info) and the VLC android app (showing title/artist info), but apparently there's no way to do that from what I can see.

The question still stands: do you see anything in the media info? If there's no now-playing entry there, then either there's no info for VLC to show, or it doesn't see it.

AFAIK, generally speaking it's still supposed to work.

This stream is sending:

It works fine with AIMP and foobar2000, but in VLC all of the fields in Media Information are empty but the Title field which returns a19423.

Use plain http, not https for ICY.

As stated previously, no title and artist info is showing under Tools>Media Information on the desktop app. This includes the "Now Playing" field. But, no matter. I've dropped VLC desktop for AIMP, which shows me the info I wish to see without difficulty. VLC should be able to do this. I don't know when VLC was created, but in 2024, the app should be able to handle this with no problem.
