Blu-ray: what file is VLC playing?

Blu-ray: what file is VLC playing?

Postby boelle » 24 May 2024 07:55

i have a legit copy of avatar in 3d that i would like to backup

i have added java so i can navigate the menu's just like on a hardware player

everything in that regard works fine, but when i select play in 2d i would like to know what file is being played

so far i cant find a menu option that does that, is it even possible?

why i want to know? handbreak shows 3 options

makemkv shows more info

so 2 titles and 4 lines that says video.... i'm a bit of a noob but i can rule out the lower of the 2 titles since it only has 1 chapter, that leaves 2 options

but now the confusion sets in as handbreak gives me 3 options to pick from

that is why it would be nice to if vlc could tell me what it is playing

HdBrStreamExtractor makes the confusion worse, Image 10 features....

all "features" in HdBrStreamExtractor mentions left and right eye so i got no wiser

and to make it clear i dont care about the 3d part of things, dont own a 3d tv and prob never will. Here in little Denmark they are hard to find compared to years ago so it seems they yet again fade out and will be forgotten

i think this guide makes it more clear.... https://github.com/rodrigopolo/brripgui ... uide_en.md

at least its says to ignore the right eye video track

1) 00852.mpls, 00001.m2ts, 2:41:42
- Chapters, 36 chapters
- h264/AVC (left eye), 1080p24/1.001 (16:9)
- h264/MVC (right eye), 1080p24/1.001 (16:9)
- DTS Master Audio, English, multi-channel, 48kHz
- AC3, French, multi-channel, 48kHz
- AC3, German, multi-channel, 48kHz
- AC3, Italian, multi-channel, 48kHz

all 10 features in HdBrStreamExtractor says the same except the mpls number and amount of chapters

2 of them have 54 chapter markers the rest has 36....

that still leaves me with what is actual being played when i pick the 2d option

since handbreak displays the mpls number i can pair that up with that output from HdBrStreamExtractor and gome down to these 2

but i would really like to know for sure....
