VLC Media Player still consume GPU when idle

Postby Arthurio » 25 Feb 2024 03:21

I am using VLC Media Player 3.0.20 x64 with Windows 10.

I have noticed that even when VLC is paused and idle, it will continously consume about 0.1%~0.2% GPU (nvidia GTX 1660) work load. Is this normal? Why VLC cannot be completely stopped when idle?

Paused is not the same as stopped. Whilst paused, VLC still needs to retain the buffered pictures and render the current frame against OSD. And if VLC is visible, the GUI also does its own rendering.

I see. Thanks for the explanation.
