garbled audio when converting DVD

Postby not present » 21 Feb 2024 14:00

i'm trying to extract an audio track from a DVD for personal use. However, this DVD has three tracks; the regular audio track, as well as a commentary track and a audio description track, of which i only want the normal audio. when I try to make the conversion (to mp3 format) it appears that all three of the tracks get squashed together, so that a snippet of the first track plays, then the second, then the third, then back to the first - making the audio sound stuttery and horrible. altogether this means that my 90 minute DVD becomes 270 minutes long. i used the audio track setting to change the track to the one i want but the same result occured. anyone have a solution to this?

i'm on Windows 11, VLC version 3.0.20. thanks in advance for your help.
