Playing a DVD with external subtitles works only for a while

Postby cuddlyable » 30 Sep 2023 17:07

I can play a 3-hour DVD movie and want to add my own subtitles that I provide as a .srt file. This works fine for 88 minutes only. After that the subtitles cease to show and the video+sound go on without them.
To investigate I ran the .srt file below which simply shows timinga that compare with VLC's own time display. My guess is that the subtitle dropout happens at the border between two DVD .vob files. I use VLC 3.0.18 Vetinari, OS is Windows 10, 4GB RAM 64-bit.

Code: Select all

1 00:00:01,000 --> 00:00:02,000 test 00:00:01 2 00:00:05,000 --> 00:00:06,000 test 00:00:05 : 2550 02:49:57,000 --> 02:49:58,000 test 02:49:57 2551 02:50:01,000 --> 02:50:02,000 test 02:50:01

Thanks Lotesdelere for quick reply. I followed advice from mederi to try VLC4. Unfortunately this substituted a simpler interface and I don't recover the normal user interface when I reload VLC 3.0.18.

Reset the preferences and cache (the manual way) and try again:
