External drive default file location

Hi, My music files reside and are organized in various folders on an external hard drive and not on my PC. Can I set up a default location in VLC so that when the application opens, it automatically looks there? If so, can anyone tell me where I specify this in VLC? I have looked but cannot find it. Any help is appreciated. Regards.
