Location of "default location for my music files" setting?

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Location of "default location for my music files" setting?

Postby RedCairo » 24 Jul 2022 18:36

I am assuming this has nothing to do with any specific OS.

I can open music from anywhere of course, but my music used to show up under 'music' on the interface -- when it was in my default OS directory for that. I moved it to an external SSD drive, and now I have to manually go open that folder every time, and then it all loads into the 'play' section.

I've been through menus and right-clicking on 'music' but I can't seem to find a way to set the "default music location" in VLC. Isn't there some way to change this? Am I just blind?? Thanks ever so much for any guidance.

That's the user music or "my music" directory as defined by the OS. To change it, change it in the OS user settings.
