VLC jumps initial 0,5 seconds playing audio files

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

On further exploration, the problem I am experiencing may be related to disk retrieval. The disk is a USB (i.e. slow) drive. Under load it seems to slow down sufficiently to cause vlc to miss data it needs, or so I think. Under tools, preferences, all, input/codecs, scroll down to "Advanced", I set File Caching (ms) and Disc Caching (ms) up from 300ms to 20000ms. That *seems* to improve things, but it's hard to know if it is better, or it is just coincidence.

May 23rd, 2022: I am experiencing same problem with Windows 11. VLC 3.0.16. I have music in FLAC files. I am playing a folder containing 33 files from Bach´s Goldberg Variations. VLC starts each file cutting the first half second or so. That is, VLC is recompsoing a Bach's work depriving me from listening in its integrity. It is an ugly experience. VLC knows of this bug since 2013 and it is a shame that such an annoying, basic defect has not been solved yet.
