Hanging up when converting or transferring VOB files to computer

Hoping I can explain this clearly. First let me say I can click on any individual VOB file in the Video TS folder and play it through with no problem. I've noticed that these VOB file segments, i.e. 1, 2, etc. tend to be limited to roughly 28 minutes. However, sometimes but not always, if I'm copying one of the VOB segments, for example file# VTS_01_1.VOB, over to a folder on my computer, it will hang up at some point, the most current one at 18 minutes or 63%, etc. and will not complete, though as I said, I can "play" that same file all the way through. The same thing occurs if I convert that same VOB file to MP4, for example, but it happens either way whether or not conversion is involved. If converting it will hang up at the same point that it does if I'm copying same file to another folder on my computer. I should add that these are family personal videos, not commercial. Thoughts? Solutions?
