Sub settings only work on srt sub files

Postby mattmier » 06 Aug 2021 06:39

I'm trying to change the font of the subtitles for my video collection. They are all .mkv files. I know that to change this I go to preferences -> subtitles/OSD -> font. Any video that has srt subs, I can successfully change the font after changing this setting and restarting VLC. However, if the subs are VobSub, SubStationAlpha, or PGS the font does not change to the font that I assigned in settings. I am using VLC 3.0.16. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.

DVD subtitles (I guess that's what you mean with VobSub) and PGS are made of images so they can't be resized. And AFAIK the style section of .SSA and .ASS subtitles may define a font size so I'm not sure you can override this setting.
