When recording with OBS, VLC skips/lags with pause&goback&play

Hello,
when I am recording video with OBS Studio (I am not streaming, just recording my screen), I use VLC to do a walkthrough for certain songs and this requires I pause, go back using the left arrow function, play again, anyway motions like that. VLC however gives me a lot of trouble when I hit play again (space button), it plays the music immediately, BUT then it lags/freezes and nothing is played for less than a second maybe until the track resumes as normal. I will post this over at OBS forums as well, but my best bet is to see if it has anything specific to do with VLC functioning under the ''load'' of a streaming program. I have a Lenovo Legion Y530 gaming laptop so the hardware part should be good enough.
