No Sound

Postby donwbeg » 13 Mar 2021 16:12

Hello, I'm not a video or audio expert. I have an *.mp4 file that plays video but no sound. I get sound on other *.mp4 files. The file without the sound shows in Tools>Media Information>Statistics>Audio that there are decoded blocks, played buffers, and 0 lost buffers.
While the video is playing and audio is shown to be decoded and played, why no sound?
Is there a way to get sound out of this *.mp4?
Again, I have no problem with audio in other *.mp4 files, just this one.
BTW, I think the audio on this file is MPEG AAC (mp4a).

TIA
Don

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to Zippyshare.com or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

100 MB max should be enough.

I'm also having a "No Sound" problem -- but with only one DVD: the 1976 version of Midway. Here is the deal, I ripped the original disk I bought using MakeMKV long ago. It played fine on Windows and Android VLC. The other day, I tried to play it on my Android -- no sound. I tried on my desktop Windows(3.0.12) -- no sound. I tried on my set-top windows (3.0.11) -- the sound played fine. Weird! I bought another DVD (cheap collector's version from Amazon) and ripped another MKV. Tried playing it on desktop win, no sound. Exasperated, I tried playing the actual DVD disk via VLC. Did have sound in the menu, but no sound in the movie itself. I can copy the .mkv up to my Google drive if anyone needs it for verification/testing. I'll send sharing Google drive link on request. Here is the Verbosity 2 message recording:
