How to specify output directory when converting multiple files?

How to specify output directory when converting multiple files?

Postby toby9999 » 15 Mar 2021 09:27

Per the subject line ...

When I Convert multiple files, the Destination file field is automatically set to "Multiple Files Selected."

This makes sense, BUT, there isn't an option to choose a destination DIRECTORY ie the output files are saved into the same directory as the input files!

There is an option to append "-converted" to each file, but then I have to mess around (a) moving the files to another directory manually and (b) renaming the files to remove the "-converted".

This might be ok if the file formats were different, so the filename extension would be different and the files wouldn't conflict in the same directory. But in my case, I'm converting MP3 to MP3, so the filenames are the same (unless I use "-converted").

Wouldn't it have been useful to simply add a button to allow specifying the output directory?

Is the above correct, or am I somehow missing some sort of Output Directory option in VLC?

Thanks.

Yes. The conversion GUI wizard was never intended to do batch conversion.

It supports multiple input files mostly to stitch them.

Thanks for the update.

Perhaps in the next version ;-)
